Erin's Equine Bodywork

Founded in 2026, Erin’s Equine Bodywork grew from years of passion into a dream come true. What began as time spent massaging horses for fun gradually evolved into something much greater.

Drawing from hands-on experience in small animal rehabilitation and countless hours spent in the barn working with friends’ horses and cows, a deeper understanding of animal movement, comfort, and recovery began to take shape. Those early experiences laid the foundation for a dedicated path in equine bodywork.

Today, Erin’s Equine Bodywork is built on that same passion, knowledge, and commitment to helping horses feel and perform at their very best.

Erin grew up in the countryside outside of Empire, where caring for animals was a natural part of daily life. From dogs and cats to chickens and injured wildlife, her early experiences fostered a deep compassion for animal care and inspired her pursuit of a career in veterinary medicine.

While still in high school, Erin began working at a local veterinary hospital, where hands-on experience and mentorship from dedicated doctors and technicians strengthened her commitment to the field. She later expanded her clinical expertise at an emergency veterinary hospital in Grand Rapids, gaining valuable experience in emergency medicine. Additional work at a dog daycare, boarding, and training facility further broadened her knowledge of animal behavior and care.

In 2007, Erin returned to Northern Michigan and joined Long Lake Animal Hospital, where she has become a valued member of the team. Surrounded by supportive colleagues, she developed a strong passion for animal rehabilitation and recovery. In 2012, she began formal training in Animal Rehabilitation and has continued to advance her education to better serve recovering patients.

Erin furthered her education through Holistic Animal Studies under the guidance of Dr. Angelique Barbara, becoming certified in Equine Massage. Her training includes multiple modalities in equine bodywork, including cold laser therapy, and she is pursuing additional certification in Acupressure to further enhance her integrative approach to care.

Since 2025, Erin has also volunteered with Horse North Rescue, where she assists in the care and rehabilitation of rescued horses. Her responsibilities range from daily feeding and medical support to practicing equine bodywork, further expanding her hands-on experience in large animal care.

Outside of her professional work, Erin shares her love of animals with her two sons, who help care for their furry, scaled, shelled, and feathered family members.
